Sagebrush Cantina has been a landmark in Calabasas, California since 1974 when it opened as a small one-room Mexican restaurant in it's rustic Old Town location. There wasn't much in the small historic neighborhood on the west end of the San Fernando valley -- some authentic "old west" store fronts and the Leonis Adobe, one of the oldest structures in Los Angeles that served as a way station and stagecoach stop during the 1800s.
With the completion of the 101 freeway in the late 1960s, Calabasas Road -- the main passage through the town -- saw less traffic. That, of course, has changed over the decades with the building of a multitude of new homes, businesses, and the Calabasas Commons. Sagebrush Cantina is credited with being one of the early sparks of growth in the area.
Since then, Calabasas has developed into a vast upscale community and Sagebrush Cantina grew right along with the town - not only in physical size - but with full menu of authentic Mexican food and American fare. Live music by popular local rock bands was added and the crowds grew and grew making Sagebrush Cantina a leading destination for great food and entertainment. The restaurant grounds now include many spacious inside and outside dining areas and a long-stretch bar with numerous large-screen TVs for sporting events. And of course there's the famous outside mega-patio with a concert stage where LA's best electrifying bands rock the weekends while fun crowds enjoy the food, drinks, and dancing.
